LAST DAY!!
Today is our last day in our PBL class. I'm really sad that it's over, but I'm glad that I learned every thing that I did. I'm thankful that I took this class ! (:
It's over.....
Well this is the end.....it's been so much fun! At first I thought this was going to be the worst 2 weeks of my entire life but I don't think anything can top this. I loved every minute of this class, there was various times when I was very frustrated while learning the Softwares but in the end it's bittersweet! I am truly going to miss each and every one my class mates. When I leave I will encourage all of my other friends that haven't taken this class to take this class. Because now I am so aware of what is going on with our Watershed and I will try to help it in every way as possible. I love this class and I will miss it...... :'(
Last Day
These two weeks have gone by so fast, and I've had so much fun! At first I had my doubts about doing this class but I'm really glad that I took it. I've learned so much in this short period of time and I had no idea what a watershed was before this class. I'm glad that I was able to learn something new and discover ways to solve problems such as the Geronimo Creek Watershed. I'll never forget the memories that were made in PBL!
Finally finish with every project!!!
Today we put the finishing touches on the placemat, magnet, button, bumper sticker and brochure. They look amazing!!! I am so proud of my fellow peers and how much work we have put into the work that we have done in the past two weeks. Everyone should definitely take PBL classes and put 120% of their energy into the project that have the possibility of being a part of the community.
- Thank you, Logan Stroud
Goodbye
Today was very bittersweet. I feel as though I have gotten really close to everyone. I made a total of 3 videos and they were a lot of fun. Making the button was stressful but very fun. As a head of the class I think everyone has learned a lot. Thank you to the facilitators and all my fellow students.
Last Day
we finish everything in PBL. Had a good time doing PBL ill maybe do it next year if they have it. Going to miss everyone.
Last Day
It is the final day of the PBL class and i have mixed emotions. I am happy to be out of the class and know I accomplished what I came here to do. I am also kinda sad that the class is coming to a end. I had a lot of fun with this class and hope I get another chance to do something like this.
last day
today is the last day we will be meeting besides at the board meeting, it is a bittersweet feeling. I am glad we completed all of our projects but I am also going to miss these students and teachers. I feel very honored to have been involved in this project and have gained so much knowledge. this was a great experience!
LAST DAY /:
This class was a wonderful experience. I met and got to work with some awesome people. Facts about the watershed will stay with me forever due to this class! Thank you so much for the people that helped us out along the way!!!!!!1
goodbye
It's been an eventful two weeks and I'm proud to say I'm been a part of this wonderful group and can walk away with new knowledge.
Last day!
After two weeks today is finally the last day. I've had a great time and made new friend as well as acquire great new computer skills. Today we're just going to make sure everything looks good so hopefully that goes well.
Last Day
Sadly today is the last day and we are going to make sure everything we did looks good. I had a great two weeks and learned a ton about our watershed. I am surprised we were able to learn so much these two weeks. I made a lot new friends and learned a lot on the computer.
last day.
had a blast in PBL made some friends and had fun presenting in front of everyone and creating the magnet and all of the other projects. ready to present for the second to last time

Project Day
Today we finished up all our projects and made them look good for the public. I was very fun and I think they look very good.
One more day...
I can practically see the finished product all that's left is hashing out a couple small details, everything's coming out better than i thought i was capable of. This class has really taught me a lot.. this is definitely not a normal class.. it's a different kind of learning, my favorite kind of learning! This is not something that will be forgotten the knowledge will stick with me and i will permanently be an advocate for our local watershed! #WATERSHEDWARRIOR
Thursday
Our projects are coming along great! I can't wait to see the finishing projects. I have faith that they will be approved and then be made into actual objects. These programs are really cool, but really complicated to use!
Day 9
Yesterday was very productive, our group finished the magnet and it looks amazing. Today we are going to have two people from GBRA come and evaluate our progress. Can't wait to get the day started.
Two more days!
Mrs. Jimenez is coming to give us feed back on our work, then will make the changes and helpfully finalize our projects:) WATERSHED WARRIORS!
Wednesday
Yesterday was lots of fun and wasn't as stressful as Tuesday. I'm very happy about how the owl came out! :)
Start of the day
Just got into class and its going to be another day of making things on the computer for the community to help with the watershed.

Watershed Warriors!
I'm ready to get working on our brochure this morning, it's cool that in this class the community will actually read these and they will be put to use informing the people unlike a traditional class where your teacher would be the only one to read it.. LET'S MAKE AN IMPACT!!
HUMP DAY
Good morning. Today we will be working on our different projects. We almost finished our button, then we will be helping out the placemat group. Busy day!
Day 8!!!
I believe today my group and I will finish the Button with the owl and hopefully start working on the Table Placemats. Today is going to be lots of fun!!!:)
Tuesday!
Yesterday was very aggravating but I got through it. At first I was very excited about my owl that I made for the button. But then whenever my group and I started working on the owl on the comupter trying to paint it, it did not go so well. The only reason it didn't go so well is because we are still new to Photoshop but I know that by Friday we will have it down like pros.
Tuesday, June 25, 2013
Today!
Today was hard and aggravating. But we worked with through it and were gonna finish by Friday!
DAY 7 CONQUERED
Quite stressful and tedious learning alot that i didnt no alot at all working on this button and trying to do our best still getting there but almost done with it though
WHOOP WHOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHOOP WHOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let the Projects Begins!!!
Today we had another guest speaker describing to us the steps in the design process. Then we began the projects. Each groups was responsible for one of the projects, including a button, a placemat, a magnet, and a bumper sticker. We each came up with a slogan and a character to support our ideas. This included frog twins, a bass, an owl, and a skeleton fish. Very difficult but productive day.
-Logan Stroud
-Logan Stroud
Today we finally decided on some objects we were going to make and were assigned what we had to do. My group was given the place mat and let me tell you it is not as easy as it looks. Using these different applications that we are not familiar with is very difficult! It is really time consuming and takes a lot of focus and patience.
Magnet Project
We're on the first steps of creating our magnet design and so far it's going really good. I drew a bass that we scanned into the computer and edited, and it looks amazing. Right now we're trying to figure out how to match the bass to the background and it's tedious work but it'll pay off in the end.
Today
All this graphic design is tedious and time consuming work, but when this is done it's going to be worth it.. I can't wait to see the finished product...lots of great ideas floating around this classroom:)
Working With Our Group
After lunch we worked with our group on the assigned project. The bad basses did pretty great with our fish background. It's really fun figuring out how to do the Photoshop and In Design programs, but it can be pretty tough too. I enjoy working with my group (:
creating our magnet
it is proving to be quite challenging but our team is creating this magnet and making it look awesome! we are working together great and collaborating efficiently.
Project
Today we started working on our projects for teaching people about our watershed. We are making a magnet and a sticker. We learned a lot and were very busy.
Started Work on the Projects
Today we started work on the projects for the PBL class. I am working on the brochure in Adobe InDesign. I am really enjoying the program.
End of the day
So we are tying to make some things for the people to see what is happening and it is really hard but we are making progress.... slow progress!!!!!!!!
Ideas
When we got the idea of having a fish skeleton on our products everyone went on their iPads and started looking for Fish Skeletons!!! I'm so excited to start making our products. :)
Little notes I took
Guest speaker
Showing us the ropes on river authority and designation
think outside the box, people want it more than being cooped up in the same old thing over and over . If you can produce an extraordinary message people are more likely to listen and truly be concerned and interested in the message your trying to send
Before you even think about starting a project you need to know how you can advertise the product, how will the project promote positive habits . And finally the production of the product .
Before you begin,
Publication is very big you need your word and product to get out there so you don't just have a great idea ,people need know you have it.
When your word is out you need to let them know who your target audience is, what you intend to do with your message, what exactly your message is , but you need to have some kind of cash expense because truthfully everyone knows that without money there is no drive , metaphorically if you can't pay for gas you can't drive your truck, if you don't have money to get your word out there you won't have any drive behind your message.
Bottom line you need to have some money, and you need to get your word out there as much as you can, so that your product or message gets as much publicity as it can!
guest speaker
a woman dressed in a very bright and energetic shirt is about to present something to us . should be interesting , cant wait to learn!!!!
Last few days.....
I can honestly say that I am going to miss this class when it's over on Friday.....I will encourage my friends to come to this summer Academy because I'm learning a lot and it's so much fun. :) YAYYYY DRAGONFLIES!!:)
Day 7
It's day 7. I'm excited to start putting our ideas into work. It will be fun and hard, but I'm ready!
Day 7
We just filled out the information on our Water Quality apps on our iPads and are getting ready to learn more about Photoshop. Can't wait to get 'er done.
Day 7
Very tired but I'm ready for everything that comes towards me. Today we have a guest coming in to teach us more things about PhotoShop. :)
Day 7
DAY 7 WHOOP WHOOP excited gonna learn more about photoshop. Lady is gonna come in and let us no more about it
WHOOP WHOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHOOP WHOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Day 7
On day 7 of the PBL class and ready to learn more about Photoshop.
Back in class
Just got to class and I am really tired but ready for another day of learning so lets get stared.
Photoshop
I cant wait to use photo shop today, to get a more in depth lesson and be able to use it to put pamphlets and posters together to inform the community about the watershed! Ready to learn this morning!!!:)
Monday, June 24, 2013
Today consisted of us going to the Outdoor Learning Center and testing the water and cleaning the creek up a little bit. First we put our boots on and mine had a big frog in it! We got with our groups and went down to the creek to pick out macroinvertabras. Comparing our bugs to the chart we found out that the creek was relatively clean. We got water samples and tested the water. We then put on gloves and got trashbags and actually went about bellybutton level deep and got some trash out of the creeks. It was a productive day at the Outdoor Learning Center!
Outdoor Learning Center
Today we went to the outdoor learning center and got into the water. It was really fun and I had a great time. We went into the creek and got some bugs and took them back and looked at them. Then we walked back down there and started cleaning up the trash on the shores. There was more trash than I expected. I got really wet and my clothes were full with water. I had a great time and can't wait to learn more.
We had a very hands on day! we took a trip a trip to the outdoor learning center where the Geronimo Creek runs through. We collected some insects and by the different kinds of insects you could tell the water quality. Then we went into the creek and cleaned up some trash. That was pretty fun and we got really wet! Now time for some Photoshop:)
Outdoor Fieldtrip
Today was very interesting.....we went to the Outdoor Learning Center and went in the creek with our nice rubber boots with our nets and caught invertebrates to study. After we caught and studied the invertebrates we went back into the water to pick up the trash. I was very scared to be in the water because it went up to my hip and I didn't really know if something would grab on my leg. But it was a very good experience to actually see what was in our drinking water before we actually were able to drink it.
Outdoor Learning Center
Today was a lot of fun! We got to catch some invertebrates that lived in the creek at the Outdoor Learning Center and learned that the water was fair because it contained a ton of invertebrates. And we got to feed some dragonfly larvae to the catfish and perch in the fish tank so that was cool. We got to test the dissolved oxygen of the water and found that it had a 80% saturation level, and that the water had a pH level of 7. Also, we cleaned up a lot of the trash that was in and around the creek. So you can say it was a very productive day.
Outdoor learning center
Today we went to the outdoor learning center, we tested the nitrate, Ph, bacteria, and oxygen count. We also took samples of the insects inhabiting the water and took them back to identify. Afterwards we walked around the watershed and picked up trash that otherwise would've got into the river and made the current situation worse.. successful day! Now we are about to start a lesson using Photoshop. #watershedwarriors
Clean up day!
Today we went to the Outdoor Learning Center and examined the water. We picked up trash and we got water and bug samples and tested them. We found out the most of the macroinvertabras we found could only survive in clean water, so that was good. We also tested the pH levels, DO levels and the nitrate levels. They were all normal, or in the good range. Now we will be working in photoshop. Yay.
YAY US FOR CLEANING THE CREEK :)
YAY US FOR CLEANING THE CREEK :)
cleaned up all of geronimo creek!! well all is a little extensive, it was very fun and educational. we learned the importance of keeping your water clean. we studied all of the macro-invertabrates found in the creek. and recorded the PH levels in the water which are 7.
Just got back
So we just got back form the outdoor learning center and it was a blast. We got to get bugs out of the creek and got to test the water and all of that kinda stuff. I was the one who dove of in the water when nobody els would and had a blast in the nice cold creek.
Condition of the creek
We went down to the out door learning center today to look at the condition of the Geronimo creek. The water is clean of insects but is not clean for humans. This was a good experience for us because today was very hands on.
Outdoor Learning Center and the Geronimo Creek
Today was one of the most fun and educational days here at the PBL workshop. We got to clean up the river and test samples. We looked at different species living in the water, and the water was indeed clean and pretty normal. Not only did we get wet but we hiked around exploring. The day was great and I would definitely do it again.
Outdoor Learning Center
Today we went to the outdoor learning center. We went into the creek and looked for bugs. We also went down the creek and cleaned it. It was pretty fun and cool to see the different bugs in the water. It was also pretty gross seeing all of the trash along the banks of the creek.
Outdoor Learning Center Adventure!!
Today we went the the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center to one clean the Geronimo Creek and two test the quality of the water itself. We used kick nets to collect invertebrates in the creek and also collected a water sample in order to calculate to the Dissolved Oxygen level and the pH level of the creek which was 80% dissolved oxygen and a 7 on the pH level.
Friday & Monday
Well Friday was lots of fun, we went to different businesses in the Watershed to see if they would hand out Magnets and other supplies to customers on September 18! Getting out there and talking to people you didn't really know was very scary but I came to realize that my classmates were going to be there for me and help me. This field trip was also a great bounding experience for me and my classmates, I had lots of fun and I can't wait to see what the field trip today has in store for me. :)

Geronimo Creek Awareness day
Well today we have been going to various restraints am local businesses in the watershed to see of they would be willing to pass out magnets and other forms of awareness on sept 18 which is World Water Awareness Day!

Day 4
Today our class took a fun trip to look at the streams of the Alligator and Geronimo creeks. We saw and talked about several of the factors that pollute our watershed. We also got a demonstration of how and where the water flowed from to reach our watershed. We saw a presentation on what restaurants that affect our watershed.
FIELD TRIP
WHOOP WHOOP out by the river and agriculture. Hands on seeing closely what the watershed is and how it is being effected by the pollution. We are planning on doing great things super excited!!!! WOOP WOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!
Field Trippin
We traveled all around the Guadalupe river basin and learned about the contributors that are furthering the already impaired watershed. My favorite part was seeing the rivers first hand and learning how each area had different circumstances depending on where it was located and what surrounded it. #watershedwarrior #wildhogs
TOUR
Today we toured the watershed, beginning with the Alligator creek and into the Geronimo creek. It was fun to get out and actually experience the watershed instead of just seeing the pictures online. We actually stopped at one location and was looking at the water and there was a tiny dead fish floating.. ): to end the day out we went to GBRA and ate. Mrs Jimenez demonstrated how the watershed flows and how the sediments get carried. overall it was a great day !
Field Trip
So the field trip today was really interesting, we really got to see with our own eyes the damages that pollution causes to the Geronimo Creek Watershed. There was algae growth on the water surface and dead fish along the bank. We have to find a solution so that we can save our water sources and prevent further damage.
Watershed Field Trip
Today I learned a lot from Mrs. Jimenez and Mrs. Magin. I now I have more knowledge of the Watershed and the effect of rain water and sediments.
Field Trip
Today we went on a field trip to tour the watershed. The first place we went was the headwaters of Alligator Creek. The water was pretty nasty. Then we went down the watershed to Geronimo Creek. We then made it to Seguin. We ate lunch and then we were showed where we went in the watershed, and the possible restaurants that we could use our project in. Then Mrs. Jimenez showed us the model of the watershed and the way it flowed down to the Gulf Of Mexico. It was really interesting.
Field Trip!!!
Had a blast on the Field trip. We started from the top of the Geronimo and Alligator Creek Watershed and went to the bottom. It was fun looking at the sediment and seeing Algae on top of the water while Cattle were in it. It was a fun experience and I can't wait till our second field try!! :)
~Love a Happy Camper!:)
~Love a Happy Camper!:)
End of the day
So we just got back from the field trip. We went to the alligator and Geronimo creek watersheds and had a blast. We learned about were the water goes from all of the parking lots like buc-ee's and the place right next to it. We really need to do something about the watersheds and need to let people know about what is going on.
1st FIELD TRIP
We went on our first trip today and it was very educational. It was nice to see it in person and it really makes you see that there is an issue with the watershed. I loved seeing the diagram at GBRA and seeing the watershed as a whole. The lunch was also fabulous, big thanks to GBRA and Mrs. Jimenez.
Holly made it rain. :P
Holly made it rain. :P
first field trip!!!
the first field trip was definatly a success. i learned lots about the watershed and feel like there is much that i can do to make people more aware of the pollution. and also feel like if we get enough people involved then we can help make geronimo creek less impaired.
Field trip
We just got done with our field trip and went around our watershed and looked at a bunch of sites with water that looked bad. It was nice to see it first hand and what the damage looks like instead of looking at a picture. I had a great day and it was tons of fun. I can't wait till the next field trip.
Buc-ee's
Look even one of the largest gas stations around is doing their part voluntarily with the dog waste station. Whoop whoop go Buc-ee's!
first field trip
about to leave for our first field trip> hshould be exciting. going to go to geronimo creek

End of Day Three!
Now that the day is finished, we have learned so much about the Geronimo Creek Watershed. Including the various pollutants in the creek and the problems with it as well. We interviewed Mrs. Cindy Jimenez for our blog and other websites as well. We formulated our driving question for our project and can't wait for the trip tomorrow!
-Logan Stroud
-Logan Stroud
Driving question !!
Working on developing our driving question took a lot of thought and team effort to agree and get it just rite. After tweaking it to make sure we send the right message across i think we defiantly nailed it! It's a great beginning to our project cant wait to see the final product!
FINAL DISCUSSION
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so many ideas so much talking but being the final word I wrote every ones ideas and after a quite long discussion i put word in of the question that hunter had made from mixing his and some other students answers we learned to listen to each other and get things done but still the best that hunter in our group came up with the best answer.
WOOP WOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOP WOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Question For Project
As a whole, we worked on a question that we could ask the community or anyone concerned about the Geronimo Creek Watershed. We put our ideas together and made an extremely question that asked about the surrounding community and Geronimo Creek Watershed.
Working on making a driving question was harder than I thought. A driving question needs to be unique, complex, and in depth inquiry. I learned that it needs to be an open ended question with more than one answer. As groups came up with many questions we all came together to make one. After tweeking the sentence we finally came up with a good driving question for what we are trying to accomplish.
End of Day Three: Experience While Developing the Driving Question
At the end of day three I feel that I have learned quite a bit about our watershed. Our watershed is affected by several other towns and water sources.
At the end of this day we decided to figure out what the driving question for our project is and i found that the work in this PBL course actually requires a student to think outside of the box.
At the end of this day we decided to figure out what the driving question for our project is and i found that the work in this PBL course actually requires a student to think outside of the box.
Day 3 is over!
Overall today was a very productive day! Mrs. Jimenez filled my brain with interesting facts about the Watershed. The best part of the day was getting the iPads and being able to take notes and take pictures on it. At the end of the day we had to create a question about the Watershed which we had to give a lot more thought than other activities we've done.
End of Day 3
This afternoon we worked on making a driving question to focus or attention on during the duration of the class. It was harder than I thought, but we all worked together to get it accomplished. The question needs to leave you thinking and has to be open ended. We also got new iPads which are really cool. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we are really enjoying the iPads and look forward to the field trip tomorrow.
The Driving Question
Today we discussed a question that went in depth and would help improve our community. Ms. Jimenez really gave us insight to the Guadalupe Watershed and what exactly is effecting. I believe it is our job as a community to help improve the Geronimo Creek. And I believe the question we came up with will help people be aware of what is happening.
Final Driving Question
So we finally finished our driving question, and it's pretty awesome if I do say so myself. It took a lot of deep thinking and cooperation from everyone, but this exercise showed us how to come up with a really good question when presented with a certain problem. We are off to a good start.
The entire class all came together and made one single driving question. It was a bit difficult due to everybody's different interpretations. Soon we realized that all of our individual questions could be summed up in one question about the Geronimo creek water shed. So we all came together and figured it out. It felt good when we had all agreed on the question.
Leading Question
Today we got in our groups and came up with a good leading question for our local watershed. In a leading question you have to put words in there that you can have more than one answer. Also you can not go look it up on Google. After we came up with one we all got together and put all our ideas in one good leading question.
leading question
everybody worked together to develop a final driving question. the outcome was great because everyone had their own ideas in the product. i also learned better ways to create more moving and involved [OER] open ended response.
End of the day
So we got to use the ipads for what our driving question was going to be. We thought long and hard about what we were going to use for the question and after a few try's we managed to blend together everybody's ideas and get the FINAL QUESTION. So everybody be ready we are coming along with everything that we are doing.
WOOP WOOP
WOOP WOOP just got ipads excited we are really gonna do great things
WOOP WOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOP WOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!!!!!!
presentation #2
about to present our second research project should be interesting!
lunch
Spending lunch perfecting our leading question for the project so that it is amazing!! Pretty awesome so far.
Guest Specker.
How Mrs. Jimenez told us about how long the Guadalupe River Basin. What is happening to the river and what she said what we can do to make other people understand how important the river is to us.
Guest Speaker!!
Today this morning, we had the great Mrs. Cindy Jimenez come to our classroom and speak with us about the watershed including the Geronimo and Alligator Creek Watershed and the Guadalupe River Basin. We explored the contaminants that effect the creeks and river in and around our area. The powerpoint in which she showed us gave each of us a brief overview of the Guadalupe River Basin.
-Logan Stroud

presentation
i feel much more educated from sitting and listening to Mrs. jemenez's presentation had many questions and got many answers. hope to be able to teach people in the way that she did. thank you for making me more aware.
Guest Speaker
Ms.Jimenez had an amazing presentation which taught us about the Guadalupe basin and the problems with it especially in the Geronimo and Alligator creek. I learned a lot about different forms of pollution and where it comes from flowing into there. Her coming to speak to us was a great learning experience
Guest Speaker: Mrs.Jimenez
After Mrs.Jimenez's presentation I have learned a lot about the watershed. The area that the watershed covers is a lot bigger than I thought and there is a lot more contributing to the contamination of alligator creek. We are also affected by every town from the start of the stream of water that we receive , New Braunfules, Kerrville and other towns.
Guest Speaker
Mrs. Jimenez just left and I feel like I learned so much about the watershed and the Geronimo Creek.
Watershed
We learned a ton about the watershed about how we can clean it and how much waste is really in it. I understand much better about the watershed like what would happen if it got worse or if we didn't do anything to stop the problem.
Guest Speaker
We just had a guest speaker. She told us a lot of information about the watershed. The whole power point was filled with information that we didn't know. I'm really excited about the watershed tour tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like.
Watershed Presentation
I feel like I learned everything there is to know about watershed from Mrs. Jimenez's really long presentation. Now I understand all the different pollutions that are factoring into the Alligator/Geronimo Creek watershed.
Thanks to Mrs. Jimenez I am now more educated about the watershed. I hope that our idea with the placemats go thorough and we get the community more involved with this. I am excited about the tour tomorrow!
Almost lunch
Just got done with a 60 page long power point it was long but I fell like I learned a lot form it.
WATERSHED PRESENTATION
Mrs. Jimenez taught us so much today about the Watershed and the causes of the bacteria in it. It was very educational and useful for our future projects.
GO GREEN GET CLEAN
GO GREEN GET CLEAN
Day 3
Day 3 has started and I am so excited to hear Mrs. Jimenez as our guest speaker talking about the watershed.
Day 3!
It's already day 3! I'm excited about what the speaker has to say about the watershed. The watershed is really interesting and I'm really excited to learn more!
DAY3
Well get into class and my computer wont let me in :( so I get to move to another spot and talk to new people so this could be and interesting day :)
Day 3!!!!
VERRYYYYY tired but I'm ready to learn! I'm very excited about what Mrs. Jimenez has to say about the Water Shed!:)
Guest speaker
Mrs. Jimenez had a lot of information to share, she really went into depth on the watershed situation with how it affected us, how to prevent it, wand what we can be doing. I'm anticipating tomorrows little filed trip around the local watershed!

Researching The Water System
today we researched about the watershed and how we can help make it better i learned many new things and it has been a lot to take in. We are having a lot of fun and learning a lot too. Even though we are having fun we know this a serious matter that can hurt us in the future be we are having great training in this great class. <3<3<3
I LOVE THIS CLASS AND EVERYONE IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOP WOOP DRAGONFLIES!!!!!!
Geronimo Creek Watershed Discussion
Towards the end of the day, we began to research more on the topic, in order to be able to bring up intelligent question to Mrs. Jimenez tomorrow as well as simply obtaining more information on the subject. We broke into to out various groups, mine was the Alligators, in order the research and collaborate what we were wanting to find and what we already knew about the topic. We found the the medical limit for E. Coli bacteria in various water sources is 126 organisms per 100 milliliters, and the medical limit for Nitrate-Nitrogen was 1.95 mg/L. Also that on a reading of the Geronimo Creek on April 19, 2010 there was a dramatic spike in the E. Coli count reaching anywhere from 4400 organisms per 100mL to 1000 organisms per 100mL, which is extraordinarily high. We found some great questions for her tomorrow and are very excited!
-Logan Stroud

Today
I think the project we did was definitely informing and i walked away knowing a lot of new information on the local watershed, I like how we got to listen to the other groups presentations and hear things we might not of found of our own...i cant wait to see what the next two weeks has in store! :) On a side note my lunch was wonderful! #wildhogs
Watershed
Students did some research on the watershed and they came up with lots of good information. They worked in groups and came up with questions to ask the GBRA presenter tomorrow. I loved seeing the students teaching each other and working so well with one another!!
DAY 2!
Today we were very productive! After making our own InDesign's we went outside in the hall for a series of communication games. It was interesting to understand that good communication is really the key. Now we have just been with our groups researching and finding out more about the watershed. I can't wait to learn more about the watershed with Mrs. Jimenez tomorrow and to ask her our questions.
The research on the Geronimo creek watershed was really interesting. The results about e coli were a bit frightening. according to some research the safe amount of e coli allowed to be present in 100mL of water is in about 120-130 but on one day it was at 40,000!On normal days its not that high but it is still above the safe limit. That's ridiculous and hopefully in this class we can help figure out prevention plans and ways to solve this imminent problem.
End of day 2
At the end of day two I have learned a lot about the watershed this class is focused on. To finish today we had a little research over the watershed. All were interesting... even if my teams research was on the wrong Guadalupe river.
watershed
We researched about the watershed and learned lots of new things. I learned that we have to find ways to fix the problem and ways to prevent it. I also learned how big our watershed is and what all the counties it goes through. We talked about what was causing the problem like wild pigs and dogs. We talked about what kind of stuff you can catch there.
PRESENTATIONS!
I learned a lot from the presentations from other students about the Water Shed! Some things I learned about the water shed is there is 50 creeks in it. Also the Guadalupe River Watershed drains about 171 square miles. I can't wait till Mrs. Jimenez comes and tells us more about the Water Shed. I am very interested in what she has to say. I have lots of questions and can't wait for them to be answered!!:)
presentation on watershed .
spread the word and protect the herd. herd as in the human and aquatic species. do what you can to preserve the remaining pure water of geronimo creek. we researched the geronimo creek watershed and created solutions to help prevent further contamination. it was very inspirational to go out and help the community. but in order to for us to help we need your help so spread the word about the watershed and help set up organizations so stop the spread of contamination.
Watershed
I learned a lot of interesting facts about the Geronimo Creek watershed that I didn't know before, so that's really cool. For example, I learned how large of an area that the watershed covers, which was close to 200 square miles, which is crazy. My group also came up with a lot of good questions that we could ask Mrs. Jimenez tomorrow. I hope that we can find some solutions for the watershed problem...
Research About The Watershed
In our groups, we researched about the watershed on the Guadalupe river. I found out a lot of interesting things that I didn't know before I researched the topic. It's really gross to think that we swim in these rivers that have so many diseases and toxic things in them. I glad to know more about this and hopefully by the end of the two weeks, I can help out the surrounding community an do my part to help stop this growing problem.
DAY 2 FINSIHED
Today we played games to learn to communicate better and we got in our groups and researched about the watershed. I learned a lot of interesting facts and developed questions about the Watershed to ask Mrs. Jimenez tomorrow. Overall, it was a very productive day!!
Research and Presentation
Today we worked in our groups and researched basic information about Guadalupe Watershed. Although our group accidentally researched the wrong Watershed, we compared and learned a lot of info about the Watershed. The community should really get more involved and learn about the problem the Watershed is having.
